Melissa’s Blog: Whispers from God – Blog 28

The following month I was set to start classes.  I chose to do it with an open mind and heart.  I started with general studies and allowed my academic advisor to help me pick classes that would be of universal value if I decided to pick a different major in the future.  Every step of the enrollment process, academic advising appointment, book store pickups, college supply shopping trips and transportation to and from was graciously given and encouraged by Living in Liberty.  Even on the days I was burnt out from being this new so called “proactive” person, and probably wasn’t a peach to be around, the women at the safe house never gave up, gently encouraged me, and seemed to have a depth of patience I couldn’t understand.

This, again, was an affirmation from God, that He could hear my prayers and wouldn’t give up on me as easily as I had always given up on myself.

The days I didn’t have school were filled with a variety of volunteers, supports, mentors, and activities from board games, movies, groups, Bible studies, meal prep and planning, to even re-learning how to correctly clean a home again…

I felt respected, loved, and cherished.
